The coming winter will be unseasonably warm in France, the country's government-run climatology department said on Wednesday. "From December to February next year all of France will have warmer temperatures than usual," an official at the weather forecasting unit of Meteo France told Reuters.
A mild winter would mean lower-than-average consumption of oil and gas-based heating fuels, and would also affect France's nuclear and hydroelectric power sectors. Britain's Meteorological Office has already predicted milder-than-usual UK and European-wide temperatures this winter.
